AmyExpress Asia Chauffeurs — The NBA China Games held in Macau have successfully concluded

The NBA China Games held in Macau have successfully concluded, with guests now gradually returning home. AmyExpress Asia Chauffeurs was honored to be entrusted by a participating team, several sponsoring enterprises, and numerous professional attendees to provide comprehensive ground transportation solutions and VIP airport transfer services in both Hong Kong and Macau. The success of this event would not have been possible without the strong support of our many business partners in Hong Kong and Macau.

Throughout the course of our service, we gained valuable insights and experiences that we hope will serve as useful references for future international events held in Macau:

1. Flexibility Needed in Macau’s “One Bus, One Tour Guide” Practice Although we received official confirmation from the Macau Tourism Office stating that business activities (non-tourist itineraries) are exempt from the “one bus, one tour guide” requirement, most bus rental companies still adhere to this long-standing practice. During discussions with our U.S. clients, they even offered to pay the guide’s fee on the condition that the guide would not board the bus—so that teams and business guests could freely use travel time for tactical or commercial discussions rather than sightseeing commentary.

2. Aging Minibus Fleet Fails to Meet International Standards The original contract from our U.S. client specified vehicles no older than five years. After conducting market research, we found that Macau’s minibus fleet is generally outdated and unable to meet this requirement. Even after relaxing the standard to vehicles under ten years old, we still couldn’t guarantee availability. Ultimately, we had to deploy some vehicles over 20 years old, some visibly damaged. Although the task was completed, the client’s on-site impression was poor, and they even considered paying in full without using the service. This issue urgently requires industry-level attention and improvement.

3. Proposal for Dedicated Border Clearance for International Guests The NBA China Games attract high-end clients and professional audiences from around the world. Drawing from practices in mainland China, we suggest establishing a dedicated border clearance channel at the Macau checkpoint of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge for NBA event guests. Providing a no-disembarkation clearance option for VIPs would significantly improve efficiency and enhance the guest experience by saving valuable time.

4. Strong Potential for Hong Kong Airport and Tourism Integration During the event, over 95% of guests arrived via Hong Kong International Airport and then traveled to Macau via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge. Many also took the opportunity to enjoy a day trip in Hong Kong. We recommend that Hong Kong customs and the tourism industry proactively collaborate to offer streamlined clearance procedures and customized travel products, thereby enhancing overall service quality and regional synergy.
